You are cordially
invited
to attend the Consultant Entrepreneur's Forum, an idea exchange
intended to increase our value to our clients and firms, and more
importantly, provide a forum to poke fun at the incongruities of
living as a consultant in modern society.
Our next meeting
will be Friday, November 10th, between the hours of 2pm
and 4pm at Pane e Cioccolato café on 10 Waverly Place
(on the corner of Mercer) in downtown NYC (map).
It's BYOF - Buy Your Own Food, and Pane only takes cash.
Participants
can arrive any time between 2pm and 4pm, but note that arriving
at 2pm permits you to get more out of it. Please RSVP to reserve
an optimal number of seats.
This Forum marks
the 1-year anniversary of our first
gathering and all in all, it's far exceeded my expectations!
During the year, our conversations have spanned across wealth inequality,
the middle class, entrepreneurship, astrology, charisma, branding
and marketing ourselves, the differences between professional areas
of consulting, the ethical consultant, the full breadth of consulting
firm administration including fees, managing other consultants,
and payroll, growing a firm, how new consultants joining our firms
see our firms, networking, personal relationships, cults and secret
societies, crime, revisionist history, warfare, politics, Britney
Spears and Paris Hilton, movies, astronomy, ecology, diversity in
the profession, education, institutions, and better learning systems,
and how clients perceive us. No taboo was spared and blood pressures
did rise. (It's amazing what you can pack into a two-hour discussion.)
For our next
meeting, we will be discussing the kitchen sink, including:
1)
Expanded discussion on crime in our society;
2) Volunteering and pro-bono consulting;
3) Should consultants have or need professional designation in lieu
of or in addition to academic qualifications?;
4) Getting a grip on this service economy.
If you have
a topic in mind, let me know and it'll get added on. Otherwise,
bring it with you...
Remember, this
is a casual forum, with no expectations of transactions, unless
you're using ideas as currency. The notion continues to be that
there are simply a dearth of stimulating experiences in our networking
travels, making this a refreshingly innovative concept. For more
information, including the forum's participation policies and a
history of this endeavor, visit: www.alberrios.com/events/cef/.
See you in 4
weeks!
